Help shape the future of GIS at Brazos Electric-Waco, TX

Brazos Electric Power Cooperative is seeking an experienced GIS Supervisor to lead the Cooperative’s enterprise GIS strategy, geospatial data, mapping services, spatial analytics, and GIS technology. This role will strengthen how GIS supports engineering, operations, construction, project management, asset management, finance, business development, and executive decision-making.

The GIS Supervisor will combine technical expertise, strategic leadership, and people management to advance GIS capabilities and explore emerging technologies such as AI, LiDAR, drones, Utility Network, and Digital Twin solutions.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and execute the enterprise GIS strategy, standards, governance, and technology roadmap.
  • Oversee enterprise geospatial databases, ensuring data quality, security, accuracy, metadata, and disaster recovery.
  • Coordinate imagery, GPS, survey, and LiDAR programs.
  • Support web and mobile GIS applications and integration with ERP, SCADA, OMS, Asset Management, and engineering systems.
  • Evaluate emerging GIS technologies, including AI, drone applications, Utility Network, and Digital Twin capabilities.
  • Support executive dashboards, spatial analytics, emergency response, and business intelligence initiatives.
  • Lead, coach, and develop GIS employees while establishing goals, priorities, and performance expectations.
  • Manage Esri licensing, consultants, vendors, departmental budgets, and technology initiatives.
  • Collaborate across departments to improve business processes and expand the effective use of GIS.
  • Promote cybersecurity, safety, compliance, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Geography, Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience.
  • Prefer 8 years of progressively responsible GIS, geospatial technology, utility mapping, spatial data management, or related experience.
  • Electric utility GIS experience preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of leadership, supervisory, or significant cross-functional leadership experience.
  • Relevant military education, technical training, and leadership experience may be considered.

Preferred Certifications: GISP, Esri Enterprise Administration, ArcGIS Professional, PMP; FAA Part 107 certification is recommended.
