Survey Party Chief

Role Description The Survey Party Chief is a full-time, on-site role based in the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex. This role leads a field survey crew, plans daily assignments, and ensures surveys are completed accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications and applicable standards. Day-to-day tasks include organizing field equipment, performing site reconnaissance, setting control, collecting field data, and documenting survey notes and sketches. The Survey Party Chief coordinates with office staff to clarify project requirements, resolves field challenges, and confirms that deliverables meet quality and safety expectations. The role also involves mentoring crew members, maintaining instruments and vehicles, and adhering to company safety policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• Strong proficiency in Land Surveying and Building Surveying, with experience leading field crews on development and construction projects.
• Hands-on experience conducting Topographic Surveys for design, planning, and civil engineering applications.
• Knowledge of ALTA Surveys and familiarity with boundary, easement, and title-related survey requirements.
• Ability to operate and manage Total Station equipment and related field data collection technologies.
• Understanding of survey computations, coordinate geometry (COGO), and basic CAD or mapping software is beneficial.
• Knowledge of applicable surveying standards, local regulations, and construction practices.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to work outdoors in varying field conditions, including lifting and carrying survey equipment.
• Previous experience as a Party Chief or senior survey technician; formal training or licensure in surveying is a plus.
