Position Overview

To improve service within the Northern nine counties, CTFB is opening a Waco branch in Spring, 2026. This 65,000 sq ft facility will provide the same services as the main location in Austin including:

  • Warehousing and transportation for distributions to partner agencies.
  • A full-service commercial kitchen providing meals to the most vulnerable members of the community.
  • A volunteer engagement space for local residents to give back to their community in a meaningful way.
  • Work force training programs to level up those in the logistics and culinary professions.
  • Market style, neighbor choice pantry.
  • Wrap around services to meet neighbor needs.
  • A community space for gatherings and events.

The General Manager position will be located in Waco and is responsible for the overall day-to-day operations of CTFB's Waco branch to include overseeing the final build and opening of the facility. In addition, the General Manager will oversee the physical upkeep of the facility and surrounding property in Waco while ensuring the safety of all who work, visit, volunteer and seek services at this facility. The General Manager will also manage daily warehouse and transportation functions coordinating with the logistics team in Austin to manage transfers, distributions and routes. This position requires a high level of regular communication and collaboration between the Waco and Austin locations.

Position Relationships

Building and maintaining collaborative and meaningful relationships is a core component of this position. Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer, this position has multiple direct reports in a department responsible for 10+ warehouse associates, drivers, and facility team members. This position works closely with the overall leadership team and teams in Austin. The General Manager also supports all departments within the organization and liaises with vendors, partner agencies, and external stakeholders.

Requirements

Your Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a business-related field including Supply Chain Management, Operations, Business Administration, Logistics, Engineering, or related field;
  • Ability to manage self with grit and tenacity.
  • Determined and driven to get projects across the finish line.
  • 10+ years progressive experience in leading supply chain, logistics and planning management. To include fleet and driver management, inventory management, picking, shipping, and receiving.
  • Experience developing and maintaining organizational safety programs and training.
  • Possess leadership skills to include innovation, results driven, high degree of emotional intelligence, and be a known subject matter expert in warehousing and transportation.
  • Provides expertise and compliance with OSHA standards.
  • Previous experience leading and directing facilities team.
  • Demonstrated ability to think and execute strategically while consistently evaluating processes/practices for improvements.
  • Ability to handle competing priorities in a fast-paced environment while consistently meeting deadlines.

Your Responsibilities

  • Lead the warehouse, transportation and facilities teams in Waco to ensure accurate inventory and movement of food within food bank facilities and throughout the Northern 9 county service area, ensuring programmatic and community deliverables are met on time, within budget, and with unparalleled customer service, while adhering to lean processing principles.
  • Determine and implement new process change(s) in Waco focusing on developing and implementing initiatives that bring speed, flexibility, compliance and connectivity to CTFB's logistics processes with the goal of increased efficiency.
  • Measure, analyze, benchmark, and improve operations that can deliver actionable insights resulting in improved performance.
  • Manage expense vendor relationships, continuously assessing performance, price and negotiating opportunities, ensuring deliverables are met on time and within budget.
  • Communicate and coordinate with other departments such as volunteer engagement, fundraising, client services, culinary and executive leadership to ensure alignment and consistency between both facilities.
  • Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to ensure the timely receipt and distribution of product.
  • Ensure all safety processes and procedural controls are being administered effectively to minimize organization risk and comply with all local, state and federal guidelines directed towards identifying, preventing and reducing workplace accidents and exposures that may result in people or financial loss to the Central Texas Food Bank.
  • Monitor compliance as well as document and address violations of the Central Texas Food Bank Health & Safety policies and standards.
  • Oversee facilities department to ensure maintenance of facility and operations complies with OSHA regulations; ensures compliance with American Institute of Baking (AIB) and Food Bank policies, procedures and best practices.
  • Develop and manage a high-performing team focused on, above all else, serving our neighbors, but also focusing on continuous improvement, collaboration, measurement, and goal achievement.
  • Oversee execution of team member performance goals and evaluate performance against goals on a regular basis.
  • Effectively coach team members and provide supportive and developmental feedback to enhance performance. Ensure that team members develop the technical, leadership and professional skills necessary for success.
