Our client is seeking a strategic and hands-on Finance Director to lead financial planning, reporting, and operational finance across a dynamic, project-driven organization. This will be hybrid in Waco, TX. This role oversees all accounting and financial activities, ensuring strong fiscal management, operational efficiency, and alignment with business objectives.

The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in construction or project-based finance, along with the ability to guide leadership through data-driven insights, optimize financial processes, and strengthen internal controls. This position plays a key role in shaping financial strategy while supporting day-to-day execution.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead financial planning and analysis, including annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning
• Oversee project cost management, tracking performance against budgets and identifying variances
• Direct the preparation and analysis of monthly financial statements, including WIP schedules, P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow
• Partner with operations and project leadership to evaluate financial performance and drive improvements
• Provide strategic financial guidance to executive leadership to support growth and profitability
• Oversee and optimize financial systems, ERP platforms, and reporting tools
• Identify and implement process improvements, automation, and system enhancements
• Ensure full compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll review, with focus on project accounting accuracy
• Manage cash flow, liquidity, and daily cash operations
• Coordinate with external auditors, clients, and stakeholders for audits and financial reviews
• Establish and maintain robust internal controls, policies, and procedures
• Lead subcontractor financial evaluations and risk assessments
• Oversee administration of employee benefits programs, including retirement plans
• Develop and track KPIs and financial metrics to measure organizational and project success
• Deliver executive-level reporting and insights to senior leadership

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• CPA, CMA, or CCIFP preferred
• 5+ years of progressive experience in construction accounting or project-based finance
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and construction financial practices
• Experience with construction ERP systems and financial reporting tools
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial analysis
