We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Director of Human Resources to lead HR programs, practices, and operations across our North American organization. Based in Waco, Texas, this role supports employees and leaders across multiple locations throughout the United States and Canada.

You are a business-minded HR leader who can move comfortably between strategic planning and day-to-day execution. You bring sound judgment to complex employee relations matters, build credibility with leaders and employees, and translate business priorities into practical people strategies that strengthen organizational performance, engagement, and accountability.

Position Overview

The Director of Human Resources leads and manages human resources programs, practices, and operations across multiple locations throughout the United States and Canada. Serving as a key business partner to senior leadership and managers, this position translates organizational priorities into practical HR strategies and programs that support business performance, workforce effectiveness, and employee engagement.

The Director provides both strategic and hands-on leadership across employee relations, talent acquisition, performance management, compensation and benefits, payroll oversight, organizational development, compliance, and HR policy administration. The role balances long-term workforce planning and organizational development with day-to-day HR execution while supporting continued growth, operational effectiveness, and organizational change.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with senior leadership and functional leaders to translate business priorities, workforce requirements, and organizational challenges into effective HR strategies and solutions.
  • Lead HR operations across multiple U.S. and Canadian locations, promoting consistent application of policies, programs, and employment practices while addressing local business requirements.
  • Provide leadership on employee relations matters, including workplace concerns, investigations, performance issues, disciplinary actions, conflict resolution, accommodations, and separations; coach managers on effective employee management practices.
  • Oversee talent acquisition and workforce planning activities, including recruiting, staffing priorities, succession considerations, and current and future workforce needs.
  • Lead performance and talent-management processes, including performance expectations, employee development, succession planning, training, and leadership-development initiatives.
  • Support the development and administration of compensation programs, including market benchmarking, salary structures, annual compensation reviews, incentive programs, promotions, and related compensation activities.
  • Oversee employee benefits and payroll administration to support accuracy, employee service, internal controls, and regulatory compliance.
  • Develop, implement, maintain, and communicate HR policies, procedures, and employment practices that support business objectives, consistency, and legal compliance.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable federal, state, provincial, and local employment requirements; monitor regulatory developments and recommend appropriate changes to policies and practices.
  • Support organizational restructuring, business transformation, system implementations, workforce changes, and other change initiatives through effective planning, communication, and leadership support.
  • Partner with leadership to strengthen organizational culture, employee engagement, communication, accountability, and collaboration across departments and locations.
  • Maintain effective HR systems, records, reporting, and workforce analytics; identify trends, risks, opportunities, and recommendations for leadership.
  • Identify and mitigate employment-related risks and coordinate with employment counsel, insurance providers, benefits partners, consultants, recruiting partners, and other external resources as appropriate.
  • Lead and develop HR team members, establishing clear priorities, responsibilities, service expectations, and accountability for effective HR delivery.
  • Manage HR-related budgets and assigned corporate administrative programs, which may include travel, insurance, risk management, and other company-wide programs.

Education, Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or a related field; master's degree or professional HR certification such as SPHR, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SHRM-CP preferred.
  • At least eight years of progressive human resources experience, preferably within manufacturing, distribution, or a similarly operational environment.
  • Three to five or more years of HR leadership or management experience with responsibility across multiple HR disciplines.
  • Experience supporting a multi-site and multi-state workforce; experience supporting employees in both the United States and Canada preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of employment law, employee relations, performance management, compensation, benefits, talent acquisition, and HR compliance.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex employee relations matters and conducting objective, thorough workplace investigations.
  • Experience developing and implementing HR policies, processes, programs, and organizational initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in both strategic and hands-on capacities within a growing or changing organization.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to understand operational priorities and translate business requirements into effective people strategies.
  • Experience within manufacturing, warehousing, distribution, or another operationally focused environment strongly preferred.
  • Ability to work on-site in Waco, TX and travel up to 20% to other Company locations as business needs require.
