GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION
This position enhances the College’s visibility and reputation through creative, technical, and strategic marketing efforts to attract and retain students. Responsibilities include creating audience-focused content across multiple channels, managing the College’s social media, producing engaging multimedia, and supporting marketing campaigns that align with brand standards and the College’s mission. The role also trains and advises staff on effective communication and social media practices, driving engagement and measurable results. This position receives general supervision from the Associate Director of Marketing and Communications and exercises no supervision.
NOTE: This is a security sensitive position and an appropriate background investigation will be made on applicants being strongly considered for this position.
SELECTION CRITERIA
The cover letter should address how the following knowledge, skills, and abilities were acquired:
Knowledge of: 1. Preparation and execution of marketing and communication principles and campaigns; 2. Social media platforms, current trends, analytics, and best practices; 3. Creating and publishing engaging content for digital, print, and multimedia formats; 4. Maintaining brand standards, ensuring accessibility, and adhering to copyright compliance; 5. Design theory and visual communication principles; Skills in: 6. Writing editing, and proofreading in AP style, for varied audiences and communication channels; 7. Creating graphics, photos, videos, and social media content using smart phone, tablet, and handheld gimbal; 8. Managing social media accounts through content scheduling, engagement, and analytics; 9. Storytelling and developing profiles and feature stories; 10. Using Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Microsoft Office, and social media tools; 11. Communicate effectively in both written and oral formats, including delivering presentations and training sessions; Ability to: 12. Prioritize and manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines; 13. Analyze metrics to guide strategy and improve engagement; 14. Translate complex information into clear, compelling content; 15. Provide training and guidance on social media best practices; 16. Adapt content to maintain brand consistency across all channels; 17. Stay current on trends and techniques in marketing and social media practices; 18. Be service-oriented, establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with staff, students and external partners; 19. Work independently, showing personal initiative as well as collaboratively within a team; 20. Complete or delegate tasks using a project management system; 21. Follow and adhere to MCC’s policies and procedures.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Sedentary-Desk work; occasional field trips e.g. for college or program activities. Insignificant effort other than normal movement. Minimal Hazard/Exposure: Standard office setting. At least minimal environmental controls to assure health and comfort.
QUALIFICATIONS
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Education: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in marketing, journalism, communications, public relations or similar (applicable) area
Experience: More than two years of work experience in communications, web, creative services, and/or marketing
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience: Work experience in performing marketing, writing, communication and social media services
