Digital Media Specialist

Minimum Starting Salary: $45,473.31 Depending on qualifications

Under general supervision, manages overall social media strategy across all platforms while managing the day-to-day responsibilities of maintaining social and digital channels by measuring social media engagement, analytics, and metrics in support of the Communication and Marketing Department's communications objectives.

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Generates content for the City’s social media accounts by developing and coordinating quality copy, graphics, images, and video; gathering news, information, and photos; and collecting information from multiple sources on a timely and continuous basis.
• Promotes department activities, services, and programs by determining the best way to present the message and the appropriate media channel(s) to use. Requires onsite or site-specific coverage of news and events.
• Assists in the overall City social media strategy through the developing a medial plan and calendar, by implementing best practices, researching audience preferences, and identifying new methods to share social content to include Facebook, Twitter, NextDoor, Instagram, YouTube, and other emerging social media channels.
• Evaluates and reports on success of social media outlets by gathering and analyzing data and providing feedback from social media trends and research.
• Assists in the monitoring and implementation of City brand guidelines.
• Supports monitoring and response to citizen inquiries and comments on social media channels and City email and coordinates with MyWaco application.
• Maintains a strong online company voice through social media.
• Prepares material for high-quality internal and external publications, including the monthly City Limits newsletter, internal employee newsletter, city calendar, etc.
• Assists with special projects and a wide range of communication tasks as needed or assigned.
• Assists in the planning and marketing of City events.
• May represent the City at Council meetings, community events, and other functions.
• Coordinates digital information needs for the City including the content and design of the City's websites.
• Supports the relationship between the City of Waco and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with citizens, visitors and City staff; maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and City information; available at various hours and performs other duties as required or assigned.
• May be required to respond afterhours, including holidays and weekends, in the event of a departmental or City-wide emergency.
• Driving is essential.

Required

• Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business, Digital Media, or a related filed
• Two years’ experience in marketing, digital media, web or graphic design
• OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Must possess a valid Texas Driver's License

Medium Work

Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
