About the Role

This paid internship runs for a fixed 10-week term and is designed to support the execution of Creative Waco’s marketing efforts across its programs and initiatives.

Creative Waco is seeking a Marketing Intern to help execute program-specific marketing and communications work. This role focuses on creating and supporting content across multiple formats, including written, visual, audio, and video, to promote Creative Waco’s programs, events, and community initiatives.

The Marketing Intern will work closely with the Marketing and Communications Director to carry out content plans, support ongoing campaigns, and assist with day-to-day marketing execution. Responsibilities are tied directly to active programs and real deliverables.

Key Responsibilities

Social Media & Content Management

  • Create and curate content for Creative Waco’s social media platforms
  • Support the development and maintenance of a social media content calendar
  • Create, schedule, and publish social media posts using provided tools
  • Develop graphics and visual assets using Canva
  • Assist with short-form video creation and editing when capacity allows
  • Support engagement monitoring and basic performance tracking

Design & Creative Support

  • Create simple marketing graphics and visual assets for programs, events, and campaigns
  • Support design needs for digital communications, presentations, and promotional materials
  • Prepare assets for use across web, email, and social platforms

Marketing & Communications Support

  • Assist with writing and editing marketing copy, captions, blog content, and SEO-informed content
  • Support keyword research and basic SEO tasks
  • Assist with interviews, content gathering, and documentation for programs and initiatives
  • Provide light support for PR-related tasks as needed

Program & Team Support

  • Support marketing efforts tied to Creative Waco programs and events
  • Assist with task management, organization, and coordination across projects
  • Collaborate with staff and contractors as needed
  • Perform additional duties related to marketing and communications as assigned

Learning & Professional Development

This internship is designed to be a meaningful educational experience with clear structure and accountability.

  • The intern will have a weekly check-in with the Director of Marketing and Communications to review progress, priorities, and feedback
  • At the conclusion of the internship, the intern may be asked to present a summary of their work or a specific project to the Creative Waco team
  • The intern may be asked to attend one or more Creative Waco events as part of their scheduled hours
  • Internship hours may be used to document events, capture content, or support on-site marketing needs

This role is hybrid but strongly community-centered. Comfort being out in the community, attending events, and engaging with Creative Waco programs is important and should align with the intern’s interests and values.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Interest in marketing, communications, design, or digital media
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Comfortable using digital tools such as Canva, social media platforms, and shared documents
  • Willingness to learn, take ownership, and manage tasks independently
  • Ability to balance creativity with deadlines and follow-through
  • Interest in arts, culture, community engagement, or nonprofit work

Additional Notes

  • Internship duration is 10 weeks
  • Schedule is flexible within the 10–15 hours per week range
  • Hybrid work environment with access to Creative Waco offices
  • Performance-based bonus of up to $500 is awarded at the discretion of Creative Waco based on initiative, quality of work, reliability, and overall contribution
  • This role is intended for individuals seeking hands-on, real-world marketing experience in a fast-paced nonprofit environment
